Nothing beats indulging in a delicious and rich hot chocolate on a cold NYC day. Any other chocolate lover, chocolate expert, or chocaholic here?
I met Maury Rubin for the first time in 2010, when I covered the City Bakery Hot Chocolate Festival on my blog (back then I only had the Italian version) and on YouTube. Every day in February, I showed up at City Bakery to taste the Special Hot chocolate of the Day.
I had 28 hot chocolates – plus 5 or more on the last day for the Festival Finale – in one month.
Many friends joined me in this chocolate adventure, and I covered it again in 2015!
For the record, my top 5 favorite hot chocolate were: Espresso, Lemon, Cinnamon, Love Potion with Dark Chocolate, and Polar Bear with White Chocolate.
City Bakery closed in 2019, so you can imagine my enthusiasm when I found out that Maury Rubin – the owner, baker, and hot chocolate maker of City Bakery – made his return to the New York City Hot Chocolate Scene with Color of Chocolate inside Urbanspace Vanderbilt!
The holiday pop up might be open till the end of January or February, and the good news is: even if the location might change in the future, Maury is here to stay!!!

I went to say hi to Maury and tried his famous chocolate with my niece Lulu from California and her boyfriend; they both loved it and devoured it!
🕚 The Color of Chocolate is open Monday-Saturday, 12–6 pm.
🍫Choose your flavor: milk chocolate and vanilla bean, classic dark, and the special of the day (it was white chocolate when we went).
🍷From 5-6 pm you can also try some of Maury’s famous boozy recipes with Bourbon, Rum, Tequila… Happy Hour Boozy Hot Chocolate is $5.50!
