II never thought the best lobster of my life (soft, delicate, and rich) would arrive at 35,000 feet… And that’s not the only reason to choose Qatar Airways. We flew Qatar Airways for the first time on our trip to the Maldives, and I’d say it’s the best example of how the journey is the destination.

Our vacation definitely started the moment we walked down that airplane aisle… and we honestly wished the flight was even longer – LOL ✈️
The Qsuite: Your Private Luxury Hotel in the Sky
We experienced the Qsuite on our route from Milan to Doha, and it set the bar very high for all future flights.
With sliding doors, complete privacy, a huge screen, and so much space to comfortably sit even before laying down flat in your own bed (plus so many smart pockets and compartments to keep everything close), you almost forget you’re on a plane!

We had two seats next to each other with a table in between, separated by a screen you can lower if you’re traveling with a partner. They also offer a different Qsuite configuration where the two beds are right next to each other (with side tables facing out), so you can turn it into one big double bed. Or even create a suite for four with friends, hang out all together, then lift the walls when you want privacy… sounds amazing, right?!
The service is excellent, attentive, and genuinely caring. You feel pampered from the second you step into the aisle to the moment you step off the plane.
Fine Dining – Make It 35,000 Feet
Forget about airplane food. We’re talking about sitting down at one of the best restaurants.
✨It felt more having a date in the clouds!
We kicked things off with a champagne toast, followed by an Aperol Spritz – because we were already in vacation mode. 🍹
Then came a delicate shrimp appetizer, beautifully plated and full of flavor.

Every detail was thoughtfully presented, from the crisp linen table setting to the silverware. And while I already mentioned the lobster earlier (yes, still dreaming about it), I have to say: every single meal felt like it belonged in a fine dining restaurant, not a cabin at 35,000 feet.

The menu changes depending on your route, but the level of care, flavor, and presentation is always five-star.
Sleeping Like a Baby and Waking Up Under the Stars
Even when we weren’t flying Qsuite (we only got a Qsuite in the Milan-Doha route), the seats in business class were incredibly comfortable.
The level of luxury, attention to detail, and top-notch service stayed consistently high across all four flights… we were pampered every step of the way.

The lie-flat design always gave us all the space we needed to stretch out, unwind, and completely relax. As I woke up on the Doha–Malé segment, the gentle twinkle of cabin lights overhead looked like stars. And on our return flight from Doha to Milan, they even added a soft topper to my seat to make it extra cushioned… It all feels designed to help you truly rest.
Attentive, Elegant, and Unforgettable – Service That Truly Goes Above and Beyond
The service on Qatar Airways is that perfect mix of elegant and personal: attentive without ever being intrusive, always there before you even realize you need something.
From the second we stepped on board, we felt welcomed, cared for, and genuinely seen. And while every crew member was lovely, there’s one moment I won’t forget… It happened on our overnight flight from Doha to Malé. We boarded around 2 a.m., and even though I’d already slept on the previous route, I was exhausted. After my meal, the steward came by offering coffee and desserts, carrying a box of beautiful chocolates. I smiled and told him I’m a total chocoholic and I’d normally never say no to chocolate, but I was just too tired to indulge. Half-joking, I added, “If you’re still serving coffee and chocolates before landing, I’ll definitely say yes to a cappuccino and a pistacchio chocolatine.”

Hours later, I woke up to the captain’s voice announcing we were about to land… and the same steward standing in front of me, smiling, with a hot cappuccino and a piece of chocolate just for me. I couldn’t stop thanking him. That small and yet so big gesture felt so personal and thoughtful: it completely melted me!!!
Wi-Fi, Screens & Everything in Between
Before our first flight from Milan, I got an email offering a special Wi-Fi deal: $8 instead of $10 for the first route from Milan to Doha. So of course, I bought it… and then I never even activated it ?.
Between sleeping, eating, and living my best life, I completely forgot about it – I didn’t even use the one hour of free Wi-Fi included!
Now, if you’re flying on one of their Boeing 777s, Qatar has just rolled out Starlink Wi-Fi with speeds up to 500 Mbps! Basically, you could stream Netflix midair if you wanted to!!!
The screen was huge, the interface super smooth, and the entertainment options were endless… if you’re into that kind of thing. I just didn’t need it. That’s how good everything else was.
The Stopover in Doha That Almost Made Us Miss Our Flight
Our layover in Doha was supposed to be quick… but since we’d already established that Qatar Airways is the world’s best airline, it’s only fair to say that Hamad International Airport might just be the world’s most luxurious distraction – LOL.
Between the stunning garden and its waterfalls, the immense architecture, and the stylish lounges, you can easily get lost in all its beauty… and miss your connection.

Everything about this airport feels elevated. It’s calm and elegant; so beautifully designed that it feels like a modern sanctuary for travelers who love beauty, space, and detail.
We stopped over twice, once on our way to the Maldives, and once on our way back, and both times felt like stepping into a fantasy world.
On our first stopover, we arrived just after midnight and the airport was lit like Times Square at night, buzzing with people. On our way back we had a daytime layover, and it felt like an entirely different place. Quiet and peaceful (we were told that most of planes land overnight because daytime temperatures in Doha often reach over 104°F), it was the perfect time to explore The Orchard, their indoor tropical garden. We strolled through the lush greenery, paused by the waterfall, and took the suspended bridge that floats above the canopy. Being surrounded by that much nature inside an airport was unforgettable.

Both ways, we had access to the Al Mourjan Business Lounge, and we were blown away. The space is elegant, luxurious and beautifully maintained. Every piece of glass, even the massive ones stretching toward the ceiling, was spotless. And once again, the food was phenomenal. Even the dates were sublime, with notes of marron glacé and honey (not added, just the pure richness of the fruit).
The airport is also home to the stunning Louis Vuitton Lounge & Café – the first of its kind in the world.

Every corner of Hamad International Airport reflects what Qatar Airways does best: elegance, excellence, and that quiet, confident luxury that never tries too hard.
So if you’re passing through Doha, don’t rush to the gate… take your time, soak it all in, and fall in love with the journey 🌿
✈️ How to Fly Business Without Paying Full Price
If there’s one tip I HAVE TO share with you, it’s this: sign up for the Privilege Club ASAP. It’s Qatar Airways’ free loyalty program, and once you’re in, you might get upgrade offers via email that can completely change your journey. Your Avios can go toward upgrades, award flights, shopping, dining, and more.
A few days before departure, we got an email with exclusive upgrade deals:
✨ Qsuite (your private luxury hotel in the sky!) from Milan to Doha for $1,000 per person
✨ Business class from Doha to Malé for $500 per person
✨ And on our way back… the promos were even cheaper!!! 🤩
If you can afford it, I totally recommend treating yourself, even just on the longest route.
The Qsuite totally makes the flight being part of your vacation.
It’s SO worth it. It turns the journey into a MEMORABLE, luxurious, and one-of-a-kind experience you’ll be talking about long after you land.
Qatar Airways Qsuite – Frequently Asked Questions
Is Qatar Airways Qsuite worth the price?
Yes, especially if you can upgrade at a discounted rate rather than paying full price. The privacy, the food, the flat bed, and the service genuinely make the flight feel like part of the vacation rather than the part you have to survive.
How much does a Qatar Airways Qsuite upgrade cost?
Upgrade offers vary by route and availability. We received ours via email a few days before departure: Milan to Doha for around $1,000 per person, and Doha to Malé for around $500. Sign up for the Privilege Club to access these pre-departure upgrade offers.
Is Qatar Airways the best business class in the world?
Qatar Airways has been voted the world’s best airline multiple times by Skytrax. The Qsuite is widely considered the best business class product currently flying, and after experiencing it myself, I completely understand why.
What is the Hamad International Airport layover like?
Better than most destinations, honestly. The Orchard indoor tropical garden, the Al Mourjan Business Lounge, and the Louis Vuitton Café make a layover in Doha feel like a bonus stop rather than a wait.

I have the same experience last 2 weeks with Qatar business class. Very relaxing .
Nice and comfy good service and friendly service . I was with my husband & 3 children .
On the way to our son’s wedding in Moscow – Russia.
Stop over in Doha as well (15 hrs) .long hour trip becomes easier . Thank to my son inlaw who upgraded our E class to B class . The service in E class on our way back was OK but I think , considering my size is slim and slender, the seat is very squeeze . Service is rather slow . Long aisle to the rest room where the food cart is occupying the small isle so they have to go back and forth . Overall food of choice is OK in E class except not much food and I don’t actually eat much , so in between food service , we were very hungry , snack is very thin chips . They should provide at least fruits or perhaps good snack or cup of noodle . Easy to make . The ventilation is good to avoid crampy space smell , but to start , they closed all ventilation so initially I found short of air in the crampy seats area . But I learn how to open ventilation and it helps tremendously . Their recliner is very limited . It was way flat in B class but E class you can recline only 15 degrees . Still very stiff seating with very thought arm space from your Neighbour .
My recomdatsion is of course B class but on going from US to Russia , the price is much lower than coming back to US . Not sure why.
Over all , I still think Qatar give a good flight experience . E class, I prefer Singapore airlines or EVA because they have premium class E which much better than the E class of Qatar , and their food is way far better than Qatar . The doa e is much bigger than E class Qatar .
Perhaps their B class , Qatar gives a better support with extra matras for straight sleep experience .
The new China Airlines has also a much spacier E class seats.
Thanks for keeping up a good service and safe flight . Congrats to the pilots and Stewart dress and Stewarts . God bless you all .
I have to agree with every word. Tha flight and the airport are as much a part of the holiday as the destination. Special.
The problem is all these airline, Qatar , Emirates, Turkish etc publicises their most expensive classes. But that is not the way 90% of travelers fly on those airlines. But that’s what they show on their TV ads etc. Rather confusing!
I totally hear you, and I’ve shared my experience as I originally booked an economic ticket and then upgraded to business… my friends who traveled in economy still said they had a lot of space and they were really comfortable, for us, I wouldn’t think twice about upgrading after what we experienced 🙂
I’ve enjoyed the Q-suites too, traveling mostly from the east coast USA to Doha and beyond. It’s a phenomenal experience and the privacy and services were beyond imagination, as you described. But one thing I may want to mention, to my dismay, is that from DOH to DC twice in consecutive years while I fell asleep in the comfort of the Q-suites, I woke up a bit late just to find that no delicious items on the menu were available for lunch anymore and the stewards never apologized, unfortunately.
They must have bunged it in for you because Qatar business class was the worst flight experience I’ve had and I’ve done a lot of travelling! I couldn’t even find it easy to put in a complaint. Don’t waste your money people go with Emirates or Singapore now they were lovely experiences
sorry to hear you had such a terrible experience, we honestly loved it and cannot wait to book my next trip with them… I’d give them a second chance ?
