I’ve been living in NYC since 2007, and the most frequent question I get is: βWhere should I stay in New York?β
So, in 2020, when the city was quiet, I started a personal “staycation project“: staying in different NYC hotels to review them firsthand and share real, honest insights. Itβs still ongoing, and over the years Iβve also worked as a model and photographer for several of them. That means I see what they offer up close, both as a guest and behind the scenes.
Fun fact: Luca and I also modeled for a Conrad Downtown photoshoot βΊοΈ
If youβre planning a trip and want advice you can trust, youβre in the right place.
Conrad New York Downtown is perfect if you’re looking for a quiet, spacious stay in Downtown NYC, with high-end finishes and top-notch service. It feels calm and relaxing, and youβre still close to everything.
Conrad New York Downtown Review
Conveniently located in Battery Park City – right by the Hudson River and just a short walk from One World Trade Center, the 9/11 Memorial, and Brookfield Place. It’s super well connected by subway, and you can even take the Path or the Ferry to NJ for an incredible Manhattan skyline view (see βInsider Tip from a localβ below β¨).
Rooms & Accommodations
The hotel lobby is an incredible floor-to-ceiling piece of art. I’d actually encourage everyone, even if you’re not a guest, to walk in and admire its beauty… you can even check out their new Leonessa rooftop!
All stylish suite-like luxury rooms start at 430 sq. ft. They are spacious, sophisticated and modern… Letβs be real, space is a luxury in NYC!!!
We stayed inΒ room 1224, with a calming view of the Hudson River. The king-size bed was super comfy, and we both loved their foamed pillows β Youβll get the fluffy ones by default, but both Luca and I prefer them thinner, so we asked for an alternative, and fell in love with the ones they brought us!
The bedroom is open to the living room space, and thereβs a sliding door if you want privacy. Itβs one of my favorite features! I like to wake up early and get some work done before heading out. I let Luca sleep, closed the door, made myself a coffee (there’s a wet bar with a Nespresso machine, a mini fridge, and filtered water!), and had my own little moment in the living area.
Thereβs also a sofa bed and a smart layout: the two sliding doors divide the space into three zones: bedroom, bar/bathroom, and living room. If youβre traveling as a couple or with family, youβll love this flexibility.
The spa-inspired bathroom comes with an amazing waterfall rain-shower (plus an extra head!), Byredo toiletries, and plush robes… I felt pampered every second.
β¨ This time, we stayed in corner suite 1123 – and wow, it might be my new favorite. Dreamy natural light and river views that made me stop and just breathe.
Impeccable service
From the moment you arrive, youβll be welcomed with warmth and top-notch hospitality. Everyone is super friendly and ready to accommodate any need. Keni at the front desk was so kind, helpful, and lovely from the second we stepped in.
I also loved finding my computer cables re-organized in our room – with a Conrad-branded silicone cable wrap! Itβs the little thoughtful touches that make the experience feel EXTRA SPECIAL.

Food & Drinks
Last year, Luca and I had lunch at ATRIO Wine Bar & Restaurant – Mediterranean flavors with a modern twist – on the second floor, and everything was DIVINE! Each dish was beautifully curated, and we were genuinely impressed by everything we ordered. We HAD TO say βBravo!β to the chef!
This time, we tried their breakfast, and everything was delicious: pancakes, avocado toast, yogurt and granola, seasonal fruit… I definitely felt spoiled throughout my entire stay.
Just your daily reminder to treat yourself from time to time (I wish I could simply move in – LOL); YOU deserve it!
During summertime, I highly suggest catching a breathtaking sunset over New York Harbor, the Statue of Liberty, and Jersey City from the new Leonessa rooftop on the 16th floor – an elegant, Italian-inspired cocktail bar created in partnership with New York beverage authority Ariel Arce.

Location and directions
Conrad New York Downtown, 102 North End Avenue, NY
How to Get There by Subway: The hotel is just a few blocks from Chamber Street, WTC Cortlandt, and Fulton Street Stations – served by the 2, 3, 4, 5, A, C, and E trains.
You can also walk through Brookfield Place and the Oculus to access all subways at Fulton Street. There are elevators everywhere, and it’s the perfect route to avoid any outdoor weather discomfort (too hot, too cold, rainy…).

Walk! Itβs the best way to explore the area. I’d suggest along stroll along the river in Battery Park
Use Citi Bike: Thereβs a station right across from the hotel, at Vesey Pl & River Terrace.

And of courseβ¦ Indulge in some Italian groceries or grab a delicious bite at Eataly Downtown – I always get an espresso con panna at the Lavazza Bar βοΈ
Insider Tip from a local
Take the NY WaterWay from Battery Park City – Vesey Street to Paulus Hook in NJ for a breathtaking view of Downtown Manhattan from the water. Walk over J. Owen Grundy Park for another scenic city view, then take the Path train back to WTC from Exchange Place – it’s just 5-min ride!
Neighborhood Hidden Gems & Instagrammable Places πΈ
Hereβs a list of my favorite places in the area.
- Winter Garden: I love its architecture and those iconic indoor palms!
- Clean Market (2nd floor, Brookfield Place): NYC-based wellness spot with IV drips, private infrared saunas, and lymphatic drainage massages. I had anΒ amazing session with Laurie and I’m already planning to go back! …and treat yourself to aΒ matcha latteΒ fromΒ Matchaful right after. Pure bliss! πΏ
- Pumphouse Park, 230 Vesey St (Brookfield Place): Donβt miss the vibranttulips in late April/May – a burst of color in the urban landscape
- Tinyβs and The Bar Upstairs, 135 W Broadway: an iconic three-story townhouse serving New American cuisine with Southern and French influences. They recently opened for breakfast and lunch – Luca had the Bacon, Egg & Cheese sandwich while I had the Avo Cottoβ¦ delicious!
Conrad New York Downtown is a perfect oasis of luxury and tranquility in a super strategic location.
